24/7-365. Basketball Lives Here.
Eleven years ago on this date (January 22, 2006), Kobe Bryant went off for what many consider the greatest individual performance in the history of basketball as he poured in a career-high 81 points against the Raptors.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been over a decade since this game. At that point Bryant looked invincible and we never even thought about an NBA without a Kobe Bryant. Now, ten years later, we are witnessing the final run of his illustrious career.
This performance sent shockwaves across the sports world and changed the complexion of the NBA forever. Bryant was at the peak of his career at this point and did whatever the hell he wanted to on the basketball court. It’s an amazing feat that may never be touched again. The Mamba scored more points on this night than some teams do in a game.
He had 55 points in the second half of this game, he went 28-of-46 from the field, 7-of-13 from beyond the arc and 18-of-20 from the free throw line. Check out all 81 of his points in the video above.
