Team USA Pulls Away To Defeat Turkey After Rough Start

After destroying Finland in their first game of the 2014 FIBA World Cup, Team USA ran into a scrappy Turkey team that ended up giving them a big scare. Turkey slowed the game down early by playing a zone defense, Team USA responded by missing eight of their nine 3-point attempts in the first quarter. At half-time Turkey led the game 40-35.

As everyone knows though, once this USA squad gets rolling, they keep rolling, and if a team allows that to happened, their in big trouble. USA came out strong in the third quarter and rallied past Turkey for a 98-77 win. This young team learns a lesson early, they won’t win the gold medal if they come into games overlooking the opponent, the world caught up long ago.

Anthony Davis led the way with 19 points, all of them came in the second half. Kenneth Faried played big with 22 points.
