T-Wolves Trade Mo Williams to Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets got off to a rough start to the season, but they got it together to start of the new year and are making somewhat of a push to secure a playoff spot in the East which isn’t very hard to do considering the Hornets are 22-29 which is good for the seventh seed in the conference.

Today the Hornets made a strong move by trading guard Gary Neal and a future second-round pick in exchange for Timberwolves guard Mo Williams. This will give MJ’s team some depth at the guard position, especially with Kemba Walker still out, and it could allow Lance Stephenson to play his natural position more.

Williams had a huge 52 point game this season against the Pacers, he is averaging 12.2 points and 6.4 assists on the season. Via Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports!:

Williams goes to the Hornets with guard Troy Daniels for veteran guard Gary Neal and a future second-round draft pick, sources told Yahoo Sports.

Charlotte will send Minnesota a 2019 second-round pick that it owns via a 2014 trade with the Miami Heat.

Williams gives the Hornets a guard to bridge the three-plus weeks left on Kemba Walker’s recovery from knee surgery and then will join Walker in a guard rotation that will no longer necessitate Charlotte playing the mistake-prone Lance Stephenson at point guard.
