Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan is having a career year for this season and is most likely going to earn his second All-Star selection in a few weeks.
The Compton, California native is set to become a free agent this coming summer and he will have plenty of suitors. His hometown Lakers are said to have great interest in his services and are reportedly willing to offer him a max deal.
DeRozan spends most of his summer in L.A. and loves the city he grew up more than anything, but he’s made it clear over the years that he wants to finish his career with the Raptors.
However, with the salary cap bump kicking in this offseason the Lakers could offer DeMar $25 million per year to play under the bright lights of LA and to carry the team into the post-Kobe Bryant era. Via Zach Lowe of ESPN:
That starts with DeRozan, a lock to decline his option and hit free agency this summer. A bunch of teams, including DeRozan’s hometown Lakers, are prepared to offer him a max deal starting at $25 million per season, and the Raptors know they will have to spend big to keep him.
