REPORT: Lakers May Hire David Fizdale To Replace Luke Walton

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, LaVar Ball was telling the truth when he said that Luke Walton has lost the Lakers. Windhorst is reporting that people are also “in his ear” saying that former David Fizdale will eventually replace Walton in Los Angeles.

When the Grizzlies fired Fizdale out of nowhere a lot of players were scratching their head as to why they’d do that to such a good person and coach. Fizdale, who is a player favorite, dealt with that firing like a true professional, knowing he’d one day get another chance to head coach an NBA team. If he is hired by the Lakers it is safe to say that will instantly increase the chances of LeBron James signing there this offseason as he spent four years with Fizdale in Miami and has always been a huge fan of his. Check out what Windhorst had to say on the Rich Eisen show above beginning at the :50 second mark.

“Whatever you want to say about LaVar Ball, he has smoked out the fact that the Lakers do not support Luke Walton. And that is now crystal clear.

“And there are now guys out there wondering openly to me–executives, coaches, agents–who the Lakers are going to hire as their next coach.

“Because that has been revealed here: That they do not have unconditional support for Luke.”

“I got executives in my ear, I got agents in my ear, saying, ‘Oh yeah, they’re probably going to hire David Fizdale.”
