REPORT: Draymond Green Interested in Signing With Pistons This Summer

Warriors forward Draymond Green is playing a career-high 32.0 minutes per game for the best team in the NBA right now, but that hasn’t stopped him from looking into future suitors.

Green, who is born in Michigan, reportedly has strong interest in signing with the Pistons when he becomes a free agent this offseason. Green has started in 51 games for the Warriors this season, he is averaging 11.1 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, both career-highs. His stock is high and he wants to get paid big this summer.

The Pistons are sitting at 11th place in the East with a record of 21-33. The Warriors are favored to win the NBA Championship this year. But, it’s still all business and the Warriors will have to make some moves in order to keep Green with them long term.

In a looming restricted free agency this summer, Golden State’s Draymond Green has a significant interest with pursuing an offer sheet with his hometown Detroit Pistons, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Green has loved playing with the Warriors and winning, and naturally Golden State is determined to find a way to retain him. Still, the Warriors’ salary structure almost dictates that Green has to go onto the market and get an offer sheet for them to match in July.

If the offer is too rich to match, the chance for Green to return to his beloved home state – where he grew up in Saginaw and played at Michigan State in East Lansing – has long intrigued him, sources said. Green still spends most of his time away from the NBA in Michigan.
