REPORT: Chris Paul and Spurs Have ‘Mutual Interest’

No matter what the Spurs and the Clippers have done over the past few season, it hasn’t been enough to topple the mighty Warriors. With Chris Paul becoming a free agent this offseason though, there is an opportunity for San Antonio to create a team that can become a serious threat to the Dubs.

The two parties are said to have mutual interest and if the Clippers and the 32-year-old Paul aren’t able to reach an agreement on a five-year $205 million deal, he could be in a Spurs uniform this fall. Via Zach Lowe of ESPN:

“I know they’re concerned about their point guard position. Dejounte Murray looks good, but he’s not ready yet.

“There’s been a lot of rumblings about Chris Paul, and I think that’s real. I think there’s mutual interest there.

“I don’t know how real it is given that the Clippers can offer a gigantic amount of money and are also a really good team. And also that the Spurs have no cap flexibility to get there.

“I’m very curious about what they do this summer.”
