REPORT: Celtics Will Make a Run at Anthony Davis If Pelicans Have Another Bad Season

The Celtics made a big move this offseason by signing forward Gordon Hayward in free agency. By adding the versatile wing, the C’s now have another shot creator, closer and alpha-dog that will help take some pressure of Isaiah Thomas, which could close the gap between them and the Cavs in the Eastern Conference. However, in order to win championships in todays NBA, Danny Ainge and company know they will need to do more.

According to Yahoo’s Chris Mannix, the Celtics will be keeping tabs on Anthony Davis and if the Pelicans have another losing season, they will try to make a push to land the dominant big man.

Rival executives expect Boston to be keeping close tabs on New Orleans, which is entering a critical season.

The Pelicans are committed to seeing if an Anthony Davis-DeMarcus Cousins frontcourt can work, but if the season goes awry, it’s widely believed the Celtics will make a strong run at Davis, who is under contract through 2020.
