Paul George made headlines a few days ago when he told LeBron James he was “ready” for him. Now, the anxious-to-star the 2016-17 season George says he has his sights set on theNBA MVP award. The 26-year-old realizes this is one of the best chances for him to win the award.
With James three years removed from his MVP days, and the last two winners now on one team, there is definitely a good opportunity for George to take the top spot and walk away with the greatest individual honor in the league. Of course, a lot of things have to go right for PG to get what he wants and he knows that better than anyone else. Via Sirius XM Radio:
“I want to be MVP,” he said. “I definitely want to be MVP this year. It’s tough, as always. It would be a challenge. But with coach Nate and the guys that I got here, I’m in position to move into that spot.
“As long as I remain being me, being a leader, being aggressive and wanting that. It’s not mine for the taking. I got to go get it. And this is my year to go get it.”
