Patrick Beverley Expected to Miss 4 Months With Wrist Injury

Rockets guard Patrick Beverley underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left wrist today. The feisty guard is expected to miss four months of action.

This is obviously a huge blow to the Rockets as Beverley’s style of play is tailor made for the slowed down playoff basketball. The lockdown defender is known to get under plays skin and plays his heart out on every possession, and that is also the reason, despite this injury, that he will have many suitors on July 1st when he becomes a free agent.

Beverley’s ligament had to be reattached, a procedure that crushed a fleeting hope before the surgery that a two-month recovery period could’ve had Beverley back for the Western Conference Finals – if the Rockets advanced that far.

Beverley, 26, is expected to be in a cast for 10 weeks and expected to be near full recovery when he becomes an unrestricted free agent July 1. Houston remains determined to re-sign Beverley to a long-term deal, but there will be plenty of interest from other teams to pry him away.
