Nuggets Fire Head Coach Brian Shaw

The Denver Nuggets announced on Tuesday that they have fired head coach Brian Shaw. The team lost 19 of its last 21 games and are well out of playoff contention with a record of 20-39.

Shaw’s firing comes two days after the team reportedly finished a huddle with a “1,2,3 six weeks!” chant.

A fourth-quarter huddle late in the Nuggets’ 104-82 loss to the Utah Jazz on Friday broke with this phrase: “1-2-3 … six weeks!”

As in six weeks to go until the end of the season. That’s 24 games, 46 days and 1,152 minutes away.

Tax day, April 15, is getaway day: the last day of the Nuggets’ season. Rest assured, there are players who are already counting.

Shaw compiled a record of 56-85 in less than two years with the Nuggets. Assistant coach Melvin Hunt will become the interim head coach for the team.
