Michael Jordan Is Officially a Billionaire

Michael Jordan, the greatest of all-time, isn’t even one of the 50 highest earning players in NBA history. Times were different in MJ’s playing days, but its still a crime that “Money” only earned a contract over $30 million two times in his career (96-97, 97-98), the rest of the years MJ never earned more than $4 million annually.

He made up for the millions he missed out on in his playing days though. Jordan stacked up strong with his brand and various other business ventures after his playing days.

According to Forbes, as of February 2015, Michael Jordan is officially a billionaire!

The Charlotte Hornets owner makes majority of his money from Nike and Jordan Brand, but the Hornets are worth more than $500 million.

Jordan is now the 1,741st richest person in the world. Via Forbes:

Nearly 25% of this year’s first-time billionaires hail from China, which produced a world-leading 71 newcomers. The United States came in second, with 57, followed by India, with 28, and Germany, with 23.

The most famous rookie on the billionaires list? Michael Jordan, arguably the greatest basketball player of all time and indisputably the best-paid athlete of all time. Most of his cash comes from Nike payouts on his iconic brand. The Jordan brand grossed an estimated $2.25 billion in 2013, earning his Airness some $90 million. But his most valuable asset is his stake in the Charlotte Hornets, worth more than $500 million.
