24/7-365. Basketball Lives Here.
The very first game we ever covered in the NBA as a basketball media outlet was Michael Carter-Williams epic debut against LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and the 2013 NBA Champion Miami Heat. Allen Iverson had just announced his retirement a few hours before the game, which was the Sixers home opener. MCW who was the 11th pick in that years draft went onto post a monster stat line of 22 points, 12 assists, 7 rebounds and 9 steals in a shocking win over the Heat.
That night felt like the beginning of a new chapter for Sixers basketball and some folks in the arena even felt like it was a pass-the-torch moment from AI to MCW. Unfortunately for the Philly, the Sixers finished 14th in the Eastern Conference that season with a dreadful 19-63 record. Carter-Williams was traded to the Bucks in January of 2015 and now finds himself headed to his third team as he prepares to join the Chicago Bulls.
