Lakers Sign Point Guard Kendall Marshall

The Lakers back court took its biggest hit today, when it was determined that Kobe Bryant would be out for six weeks with a broken bone in his knee, it left the Lakers not only without their star player but basically no back court. Steve Nash is out another four weeks, Steve Blake is out another five weeks and Jordan Farmar is out till the end of the month, all these injuries left the Lakers with just two true guards in Jodie Meeks and Xavier Henry.

The Lakers had to get somebody quick and they have signed D-League player and former lottery pick Kendall Marshall. Xavier Henry will man the point till Marshall is ready to play.

As per Yahoo Sports:

Desperate to replenish their guard depth, the Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to a deal with former NBA lottery pick Kendall Marshall, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Marshall, the 13th overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft, was averaging 19.7 points and 9.6 assists per game for the Delaware 87ers of the NBA Development League. The Lakers are in dire need of guard help, losing Steve Blake,Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant to injuries.

The Lakers plan to turn to Xavier Henry to play point guard in the short term, coach Mike D’Antoni told reporters on Thursday.

Marshall was in Austin, Texas, with the 87ers and was taking a Thursday night flight to Los Angeles, sources said.
