Lakers Interested In Iman Shumpert and Tyson Chandler

The Lakers back court is beat up pretty bad right now, Steve Blake, Steve Nash and Jordan Farmar are all out with injuries and Kobe Bryant is still getting back into game shape. The Lakers are trying to strengthen their back court and reports have surfaced that they are interested in Knicks guard Iman Shumpert.  The Lakers are also interested in Knicks center  Tyson Chandler, they are weighing the option of trading Paul Gasol for Chandler ever since Pau expressed his frustration with Mike D’Antoni’s system.
As per ESPN:

Los Angeles Lakers superstar shooting guard Kobe Bryant just returned to action, but that hasn’t stopped the team from inquiring about other backcourt players.

The Lakers recently called the Knicks to express their interest in Iman Shumpert, according to sources close to the situation

No trade is imminent, and sources say the Lakers’ call was more about doing their due diligence; it’s well-known Shumpert is available. The Lakers are unlikely to make a deal before the end of their current four-game trip, which concludes Tuesday night in Memphis.

Sources say the Lakers also are interested in another Knicks player — center Tyson Chandler. The Lakers did not inquire about Chandler when they called about Shumpert, but they are weighing whether to propose a Pau Gasol-for-Chandler trade, according to sources.

The Lakers could use a shot in the arm right now if they want any hope of making it to and far in the playoffs and either one of these two would help.
