Knicks Fire Phil Jackson

The Knicks are reportedly set to part ways with team president Phil Jackson on Wednesday morning. Reports surfaced last night that owner James Dolan was weighing the Zen Master’s future with the team and that he may even consider firing him.

Jackson’s stint as the head of basketball operations in New York has been a total disaster. He has managed to ruin his relationship with franchise player Carmelo Anthony as well as the future of the team Kristaps Porzingis. Players have been turned off from playing for the Knicks and Phil’s refusal to let go out of the out-dated triangle offense is a big reason for that. It’ll be very interesting to see what happens with the Knicks now. Via Yahoo Sports:

Owner James Dolan has been weighing Jackson’s future role running the franchise and seriously considering his dismissal despite two years and $24 million-plus left on his contract, league sources told The Vertical.

Dolan and Jackson, 71, talked about the possibility of a parting on Tuesday, league sources told The Vertical.

The future of general manager Steve Mills is unclear, but he could transition the franchise through free agency, which begins on Saturday.
