Klay Thompson turned in a historic 60 point performance in 29 minutes on Monday night against the Pacers. The sharpshooter had 40 at the half and came out to score 20 more in the third. With the Warriors up big and a four games in five night road trip ahead, Steve Kerr sat Thompson for the entire fourth quarter. During this scoring eruption “Kobe’s 81” was trending on Twitter, because it looked like Klay had a legit shot at hitting 80 points. We witnessed history last night, but had the 26-year-old played in the fourth quarter, we could have witnessed a special, once-in-a-decade moment. After the game, Thompson admitted that he wishes he could’ve played in the fourth quarter and though he is more than satisfied with the 60 in 29, he thinks he could’ve scored 80.
Kevin Durant, who was blown away by the performance, also thinks that his teammate should’ve had 80 points against the Pacers.
