Kendall Marshall Explodes For 20 Points, 15 Assists and 6 Rebs in Lakers Win

After Jordan Farmar was sidelined for four weeks, the Lakers announced that Kendall Marshall would be starting at point guard. They had no choice, this was a big jump for the 23 year old who was playing in the D-League a few weeks ago. Marshall made his debut as a starter in just his third game as a Laker against the Utah Jazz Friday night and he was spectacular!

Kendall Marshall exploded for a career high 20 points(8-12 fg), career high 15 assists and a career high 6 rebounds, he played 40 minutes and lead Lakers past the Utah Jazz 110-99, the victory snapped the Lakers six game losing streak.

Marshall drew comparisons to Jeremy Lin and his eruption in New York two years ago. Marsahllsanity was trending on Twitter at one point. In January of 2012, Lin had played two games and Carmelo Anthony was out with an injury, when Lin got the start he exploded in his debut and the rest was history. Tonight without any other point guards and Kobe Bryant out, under the same head coach Mike D’Antoni, Marshall showed out just like Lin did.

After the game D’Antoni said “I’m not making any comparison but Jeremy Lin did the same thing”. D’Antoni’s system is great for point guards, Jeremy Lin’s life could have been totally different had he been playing for a different coach. You can bet that Marshall will get the start again, Mike D’Antoni and every Laker fan in the world must be hoping that this turns out to be just like the Jeremy Lin era.
