Gregg Popovich Gets 1000th Career Win in Spurs Clutch Win Over Pacers

The Spurs rallied back from 14 down to defeat the Indiana Pacers on their home floor on a clutch game-winning jumper from Marco Belinelli. This Spurs victory earned Gregg Popovich his 1000th career win, making him just the ninth coach in NBA history to achieve that feat and just the second in NBA history to get to 1000 wins with one team.

The cool thing about this win was that it came in the five-time NBA champions home town of Indiana. This milestone will sure look nice on Pop’s already legendary resume.

Arguably the greatest to ever do it. Check out what he had to say on this win in the postgame interview. Via ESPN:

“I’ve been here a long time and I’ve had good players. That’s the formula,” Popovich said. “Getting the players is difficult, but I’ve been fortunate to have good ones. The time, that’s the most important element. You have to be around for a while I guess.”
