Epic Duel: Jamal Crawford vs Mike James at Seattle Pro Am

On Saturday we witnessed one of the most exciting duels in Seattle Pro Am history as Jamal Crawford and Mike James went at it in a thriller. For those of you that don’t know, James is a 25-year old pro European basketball player from Portland, Oregon.

This summer Mike gained national recognition during his stint with the Phoenix Suns NBA Summer League team where he averaged 12.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.9 assist per game. He also erupted for a Las Vegas summer season-high 32 points in the championship game against the Spurs Summer League team.

On Saturday he along with his opponent Jamal Crawford put on a show at the Pro Am. There were many highlights in this one, but it was very fun to watch Crawford and James get competitive and go at each other throughout the game. This one had it all, the scoring, the nifty handles, dunks, slick passes and clutch plays.

James took the game over in the clutch stages and would go onto hit a cold blooded game-winning 3-pointer while being fouled to put his team up 133-132. After hitting the free throw, Crawford’s Brandblack squad couldn’t get a clean shot off with just 1 second remaining on the clock.

Crawford had one of his best games of the Pro-Am season turning in an incredible 46 point, 17 assist performance. James had 47 points and 9 assists, but it was his shot that will be remembered most from this bout.

You have to love and respect the fact that these two were going at each other the way they were. Mike James has an old-school mentality similar to Crawford’s. It’ll be interesting to see if he can land a contract with a team in the coming years.
