When the clock struck 12:01 on July 1, DeRozan was only scheduled to meet with the franchise that drafted him back in 2009. Turns out they have already agreed on a monster deal for the two-time All-Star.
DeRozan will reportedly be signing a five-year deal worth $139 million deal. Via Yahoo Sports:
Free agent DeMar DeRozan has agreed to a five-year, $139 million-plus deal with the Toronto Raptors, league sources told The Vertical.
The deal does not include a player option, sources said.
DeRozan held his free-agent meetings in Los Angeles, prioritizing a winning franchise and a significant financial commitment.
DeRozan had his best pro season in 2015-16, averaging 23.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and four assists in 78 games. DeRozan entered free agency wanting to re-sign with Toronto after helping the Raptors rise to contention.
