Canada basketball made a big statement on Friday as they defeated Team USA 111-108 in the semi-finals of the Pan-Am games.
It was an amazing effort by the Canadian’s who were led by Andrew Nicholson’s 31 points, Jamal Murray’s clutch performance and Anthony Bennett’s dominance on both ends.
Team USA led by six points going into the fourth quarter, but Canada made an 11-2 run with Murray scoring nine of them. The Kentucky recruit went onto miss the potential game-winning shot but scored eight points in OT to help Canada seal the deal.
Bennett also made some big plays in the OT period scoring five points and coming up with a crucial block.
Former NBA players Bobby Brown scored 25 points for the US and Anthony Randolph scored 21.
Canada will play Brazil in the Gold Medal game on Saturday. This was a huge win for Canadian basketball, you could feel the excitement from the hometown fans.
