Back in 2006, a 31-year-old Allen Iverson was at the peak of his abilities, leading the league in scoring for the fifth time in his career, but with no NBA Championship to his name and the mediocre supporting cast in Philly catching up to him as his window closed, he decided to part ways with the Sixers after a decade of greatness.
Many times tried to make a move for Iverson at the time, but majority of them didn’t come close to working out. Before A.I. was eventually traded to the Denver Nuggets, the Minnesota Timberwolves had a good shot at landing The Answer and pairing him with Kevin Garnett, who was also at a similar stage in his career.
On a recent podcast with The Vertical, former Sixers GM Billy King reveals that Iverson really wanted to team up with KG, as that would have made Minny an instant contender. It’s crazy to think what could have been. Check it out below.
